Each violation of the article subsequent to the written warning shall be documented by the issuance of a citation and punishable by a fine. The first subsequent violation shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $25.00. Subsequent fines will increase accordingly.

NEWS SUMMARY: Enfield Kicks-Off Holiday Recycling Campaign

Enfield Recycles door card

ENFIELD (December 4, 2009) – More trash is generated during the holiday season than any other time of year. To combat this, the Town of Enfield is embarking on a marketing campaign to step-up efforts to increase recycling throughout town.

Beginning this holiday season residents of Enfield will see the recycling slogan “Who Do YOU Recycle For?" throughout town to remind residents to recycle. The intent of the slogan is to get residents thinking about the importance of recycling and its affect on their loved ones, the environment and their pocket book. Last fiscal year 3017 tons were recycled generating $15,085.00 in revenue. If this were Solid Waste, the cost to the town would have been $217,224.00.

With the help of the Police Explorers, Hazardville Fire Department and Shaker Pines Fire Department, door hangers will be distributed to each home and condominium in Enfield. Door hangers are to educate residents about Single Stream Recycling, everything in one bin, no bagging, sorting or twine required, as well as what items can be recycled.

Area businesses are asked to promote recycling by placing a sticker on store receipts or bags reminding people to recycle. Stickers are 1-1/4 inch round yellow stickers that say “Tis the Season to Recycle!” Costco was the first business who signed on to support this effort. Interested businesses are encouraged to call the Town of Enfield Public Works Department at (860) 763-7094.

The holiday recycling promotion is the beginning of an ongoing effort intended to encourage the positive impact of reducing, reusing, recycling, and closing the recycling loop throughout town.  For more information about recycling in the Town of Enfield, please call (860) 763-7094.
