PROGRAM INFORMATION & DATA:

The primary function of  the  Assessor's  office  is  to  establish  fair
market value of all taxable Real and Personal Property  within  the  Town
of Enfield.  It is critical  that  these  values  are  arrived  at  in  a
consistent  process  to   achieve   the   equal   distribution   of   tax
responsibility.   Seventy  percent  of  market   value   for   the   year
2001 will be the  basis  for  the  taxation  of  Real  Estate  until  the
next revaluation.  Personal Property and Motor  Vehicles  are  reassessed
annually and also  reflect  70%  of  market  value.  The  Assessor  works
extensively with Senior Citizens by implementing  both  State  and  local
freeze-circuit breaker programs.

DEPARTMENT GOALS:

Streamline assessment process where possible.

Revise Exemptions, amounts and criteria to  comply  with  State  mandated
changes.

Continue data analysis programs,  reclassification  procedure  and  value
analysis.

Discover, list and value new improvements.
