PROCLAMATION DECLARING
AN OFFICIAL DAY OF MOURNING
IN REMEMBRANCE OF
MARY LOU STROM

Whereas,

Mary Lou Strom was a life long resident of Enfield serving the town she loved in many capacities; and

 

Whereas,

Mary Lou Strom was employed as the assistant town assessor in Enfield from 1975-1978 and was a member of the Enfield Town Council for 14 years including six years as mayor, from 1995 to 2001; and

 

Whereas,

Mary Lou Strom's dedication to her community was evidenced by appointment to many councils and committees such as the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission and the Capitol Region Council of Government and she was a recipient of the Enfield Rotary Club's distinguished Paul Harris Award; and

 

Whereas,

Mary Lou Strom unselfishly volunteered countless hours of her time to many organizations, including serving as member, president and volunteer relief house parent for the friendship House of Enfield; as "cook" for the Boy Scout Brainerd Park cleanup; the Enfield Jaycee's haunted house; mda jail and bail and the July 4th celebration committee and many, many others; and

 

Whereas,

Mary Lou Strom was a generous contributor to many charitable organizations as the Network Against Domestic Abuse, the After School Program of Enfield, the North Central Coalition for Children, Enfield Explorer Post, Hole in the Wall Camp and sponsored two children for World Vision, Inc.; and

 

Whereas,

Mary Lou Strom as a person that truly loved Enfield and gave freely of her time to make Enfield a better place to live; and

 

Whereas,

All of Enfield owes her and her family a great depth of gratitude for their commitment, compassion and generosity. Enfield has certainly lost a trusted friend;

Now, therefore I, Patrick L. Tallarita, Mayor of the Town of Enfield do hereby declare Saturday, December 30, 2006 to be an Official Day of Mourning in the Town of Enfield and encourage all citizens to join in extending their deepest sympathy to Mary Lou Strom's family, relatives and friends in their time of sorrow.
