MINUTES OF JANUARY 13, 2010 MEETING
Marlene Hoginski called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Marlene Hoginski, Shirley Carpenter, Judy Partridge Barbara O’Hara, Michael Mennella, Alice Egan, and Herbert Foy
ABSENT: Marguerite DuPrey, Kay Tallarita, Denise McGill, Town Council Liaisons, William Edgar and Clemence Dumont, Susan Lather and Pamela Brown
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Accepted as written. Motion to accept by Mike Mennella and seconded by Judy Partridge.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Balance as of January 13, 2010 is $4,672.58.
GUEST SPEAKER: Patty O’Brian, Director of North Central Regional Alzheimer’s Association, spoke of the disease. Presently there are 700,000 cases in Connecticut (70% cared for at home). By 2040, the patients will grown by over 300%. The Commission will assist Ms. O’Brian with a program which will be at the Senior Center or the Library. The date will be determined. There will be a limit of 20 people per session.
Topics to be covered will be:
1. What is Alzheimer’s?
2. Behavior and home safety.
3. Family Dynamics
4. Elder Attorney
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Alzheimers program.
2. Enfield Adult Day Care has requested a donation so their clients could see Gee's Band at the Hartford Stage. Motion to present $50.00 to the Day Care by Alice Egan and seconded by Herb Foy. All members agreed.

The next meeting for the Commission on Aging will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 299 Elm Street, Enfield , CT.
