Commission on Aging

Minutes of March 10, 2010 meeting

Marlene Hoginski called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

Present:  Marlene Hoginski, Michael Mannella, Shirley Carpenter, Barbara O'Hara, Alice Egan, Denise McGill, Pamela Brown, and Susan Lather.

Absent:  Judy Partridge, Marguerite DuPrey, Kay Tallarita, Herbert Foy and Town Council Liasions William Edgar and Clemence Dumont.

Secretary's Report:  Accepted as written.  Motion to accept by Mike Mennella and seconded by Barbara O'Hara

Treasurer's Report:  The balance as of March 10, 2010 is $4,622.11

Susan Lather - Senior Center: 

1.  False fire alarm at Senior Center on 3/10/2010.  Reason for mistake being investigated.

2.  Senior Lifestyle Expo on Saturday, April 10, 2010 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Old Business:  The program by Patty O'Brien on Alzheimers will be held on June 16, June 23, June 30, and July 7, 2010.  Site of the presentation is undetermined.  Money alloted to Barbara for light meal.  Motion made by Barbara O'Hara and seconded by Alice Egan.

New Business:  Next year, Alzheimers caregivers classes will be discussed.

Pamela Brown, Social Services:

1.  ITN program has requested $150.00 for a table at the Senior Lifestyle Expo.  They are seeking extra volunteers for their program.  Motion made by Michael Mennella, and seconded by Barbara O'Hara.

2.  Pam suggested we have the Senior Directory professionally laid out prior to printing.  The cost is $300.00.  Motion made by Denise McGill and seconded by Alice Egan.

Meeting adjourned at 5:50 p.m.

The next meeting for the Commission on Aging will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 299 Elm Street, Enfield, CT
