ENFIELD CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION

Minutes of Regular Meeting

Thompsonville Room – 6:35 p.m.

Present

Mary Keller, Yvonne Wollenberg, Terri Jedynak, Cathy Sperrazza and Betty Maguire

Acceptance of Minutes

Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted by Cathy Sperrazza and seconded by Terri Jedynak.

Chairperson’s Remarks

In Diane’s absence, Terri conducted the meeting.  She introduced our newest member – Betty Maguire.  Betty gave the commission a brief summary of her background and we are delighted she is joining our group.

Treasurer’s Report

Our regular account is now at zero balance.  Our special account is $26,736.26

Staff Liaison’s Remarks

Mary mentioned that the budget meeting is next Monday (Apr. 13).  She also mentioned the Recreation Dept. has a Boston (on your own) trip on May 2.  They also are sponsoring Red Sox trips – which are full at this point.

Old Business

A recap of our trip to see Blue Man Group – the tickets are $60 and the bus leaves from behind Town Hall at 8 a.m. on April 25.  We will be dropped off at Quincy Market for time on our own and make our own way to the Charles Playhouse for the 2 p.m. performance.  The bus will pick us up at 4 p.m. for our return trip.  We should arrive back in Enfield about 6 p.m.  Mary will print maps for us to pass out to everyone on this trip.

Since we have been told that we are not receiving any funds from the town budget, we talked about reconsidering our donation to the July 4th celebration.  Please think about this issue before our next meeting and we will make our decision then.

The commission was informed of our trip to the Better Connecticut Show.  Terri, Cathy and Yvonne attended.  We received a lead on a singing group at this event and Terri will present this information at our next meeting

New Business

We have been getting a feel of interest from the community regarding a trip to Tanglewood to see Tony Bennett.  There seems to be enough interest to go forward with trip.  Yvonne will contact Tanglewood.

The meeting ended at 7:20  p.m. with a motion by Terri Jedynak  and seconded by Cathy Sperrazza.

Respectfully submitted

Yvonne Wollenberg
