ENFIELD CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of Regular Meeting
Enfield Room – 6:45 p.m.
Present
Mary Keller, Yvonne Wollenberg, Terri Jedynak, Cathy Sperrazza , Betty Maguire, Barbara Kelly, Hal Grout, Diane Carlone and Bill Lee
Acceptance of Minutes
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted by Hal Grout and seconded by Barbara Kelly.
Our Council Representative, Bill Lee, attended our meeting. He talked about the budget and mentioned that we took a big “hit” this year (no budget at all). He said it would be worse next year. Bill mentioned that we should consider more cultural events within our town instead of out of town trips. We discussed advertising and how we could raise funds for our organization. Bill will check with council members to give us some guidance for the future.
A discussion ensued – things to consider:
· Volunteering is rare.
· If we became a committee it would allow more people to come in and join in on the working end of our events.
Chairperson’s Remarks
Treasurer’s Report
Our regular account is now at zero balance. Our special account is $27,660.52 .
Staff Liaison’s Remarks
Mary handed out the Summer brochure from the Recreation Department.
Old Business
Betty checked on availability of advertising for ECAC and found we can do this for free with COX, ETV, the Journal Inquirer, Thrifty Shopper, and Enfield Press. Betty will take care of publicity with the above-mentioned. Yvonne will contact I-Town with the Hartford Courant.
New Business
Terri checked with the Historical Museum in town to see if they would be interested in a combined art show at the museum. They said they were not interested. Valley Rep was mentioned as another place for an art showing. Terri will contact regarding this idea. This is in response to an idea given to us by Sam Dupuis of the Tobacco Valley Artists at our last meeting. Terri will also follow up with Sam Dupuis with this information.
We will check with the Library (Terri) and Senior Center (Mary) for a possible art/poetry event.
Terri mentioned she has a list of clubs and associations within our area for our reference.
Yvonne will contact Valley Rep to come to one of our meetings to see if we can partner something together.
New ideas for up-coming events were presented:
· Betty will contact Hart School of Music for a possible performance in our area (by local people) to give them some exposure.
· Terri suggested Destiny Africa Children’s Choir who will be visiting the area September 16 through November 11. She will look into.
· Yvonne will contact the library for the display case in the lobby to present ECAC’s achievements.
· Barbara presented a brochure she received regarding the singing group

· We are set on getting the Wiffenpoofs for the holidays (12/4/04). Barbara will handle the arrangements.
