Minutes of Regular Meeting
December 1, 2009
Town Hall Breakroom – 6:40 p.m. (door to Enfield Room was locked)
Present
Diane Carlone, Betty McGuire, Terri Jedynak Barbara Kelly, Bill Lee and Yvonne Wollenberg
Acceptance of Minutes
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted by Terri Jedynak and seconded by Barbara Kelly.
Chairperson’s Remarks
Diane mentioned the trip to NYC for the Christmas Show was a success.
She has contacted the Culinary Institute in NY and has been informed that we must contact them six months before we want to schedule a trip to make arrangements.
Diane also mentioned that we have a limited amount of tickets for Lion King at the Bushnell on February 3 at 7 p.m. The tickets are $75 each. We should get this information in the newspapers and on our web site as soon as possible.
Treasurer Report
Terri Jedynak reported we have approximately $21,000 in our account.
Staff Liaison’s Remarks
Mary Keller was unable to attend our meeting.
Old Business
December 4 – Wiffenpoofs – we should be at the Congregational Church at 5:30 p.m. to prepare for the reception following the performance. We will bring finger foods and juice to serve.
December 6 – Carol Sing – We should be at the Town Green at 6:45 p.m.
December 9 – Festival of Trees – we should be at the library at 6:00 p.m. with goodies.
February 12 – Wine Tasting – this is a tentative date. Will confirm as soon as we can.
Betty had several suggestions for performers and will do some investigation. She will get back to us at a later date.
NewBusiness
Bill Lee mentioned he talked to Lauren Miller of the Greater Hartford Arts Council regarding the possibility of presenting a one-day workshop for obtaining grants for the arts in our community. He will get back to us with this information at a later date.
Bill is also in contact with the Hart School of Music for future events.
The Dan Kane singers were mentioned as a possibility for future entertainment. Barbara will look into this for us.
Barbara will also check into a trip to NYC or Boston sometime in the Spring. She will research future art exhibits in these cities as possible destinations.
Yvonne mentioned that James Taylor and Carol King will be performing at Tanglewood July 3 and 4, 2010. If there is enough interest we will purchase lawn tickets for this event on July 3.
The meeting ended at 7:20p.m. with a motion by Terri Jedynak and seconded by Barbara Kelly.
