ENFIELD CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of Regular Meeting
December 2, 2008
Enfield Room – 7:10 p.m.
Present
Barbara Kelly, Terri Jedynak, Mary Keller, Cathy Sperrazza and Yvonne Wollenberg
Acceptance of Minutes
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted by Terri Jedynak and seconded by Barbara Kelly.
Chairperson’s Remarks
Diane Carlone was absent from the meeting.
Treasurer’s Report
Terri reported that we presently have $4,197.47 in our account after all outstanding bills have been paid.
Staff Liaison’s Remarks
Mary handed out posters for the Beer/Wine Tasting for us to deliver through the community.
Mary also handed out copies of the Recreation Department Activities handbook for the new year.
Mary said we should arrive at the Carol Sing on Dec. 7 at about 5 to 10 minutes before 7 p.m. There is a new parade route this year and this should give us plenty of time to be on board before the parade arrives at the town green. She also handed out her cell phone number in the event any changes take place regarding the Carol Sing.
Old Business
We will decorate a tree at the library for the Festival of Trees to be held on Dec. 11. We should arrive at this event at 6:00 p.m. with Christmas goodies.
Yvonne will contact the Courant “i-town” to advertise the Army National Band concert to be held on Dec. 14.
Our trip to NYC for the Christmas Show was a great success. A good time was had by all.
We decorated a tree at the Wadsworth in Hartford for their Christmas “Festival of Trees”. This is the third year we have participated in this event. There will be a reception at the museum for participants on Dec. 7. Terri has tickets for any of us that plan to attend.
Up-coming events –
January – Beer/Wine Tasting
February – Jersey Boys
April – Blue Man Group in Boston
New Business
We decided to look into getting the Tire Bitter or Nifty Fifties bands to put on a performance for us sometime in 2009 calendar.
It was mentioned that we might also look into the Windham Concert Band for a performance.
Cathy asked that we select a few dates to visit the Better Connecticut Show at Channel 3 so that she can call and make definite arrangements. The date should be in late January or early February.
The meeting ended at 7:45 p.m. with a motion by Barbara Kelly and seconded by Terri Jedynak.
Respectfully submitted
Yvonne Wollenberg,
Secretary
