to date.
STAFF LIAISON'S REMARKS
Mary Keller was not able to attend the meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Pumpkin Fest was attended by Yvonne and Terri. They were assigned to "crowd control"
at the balloon booth.
Paul Bisaccia concert was a huge success!! The audience enjoyed his presentation and
many requested a repeat performance next year. When approached of the possibility, Mr.
Bisaccia suggested a Gershwin's "Rapsody in Blue" presentation. The Senior Center was
the perfect venue for this concert and many "Thanks" go out to Susan Lather and her staff
for setting up and serving the refreshments.
The "Jersey Boys" performance at the Bushnell was well attended. Two tickets were not
sold.
NEW BUSINESS
All contracts and checks are set for the Dan Kane Singers concert. Yvonne and Terri will be in
charge of refreshments. We will provide the baked goods. Posters were handed out to be
placed around town.
The Tree Lighting on the Town Green is Dec. 4th. We should be there at the gazebo by
6:15 pm.
Festival of Trees--Dec. 15. We should be at the Library at 6 pm to set up tables etc. We will
provide the baked goods. Terri and Yvonne will submit a decorated tree from this commitee.
Diane is still working on the trip to the Culinary Institute for Oct 2012.
It was decided and voted not to pursue the trip to the Botanical Gardens this year.
Yvonne will continue to gather information re: the Boston Flower Show in the spring.
Michael will explore a performance of the African Choir for May 2012.
A Wine Tasting event was brought up again. Michael offered to speak to Bill Lee about
the possibility of holding one in Feb 2012.
The Book Mark contest was discussed. It was decided that the theme would be "My Favorite
Book" and the winner would receive a $50 gift card to Barnes and Noble. Terri will call Amy
Whitbro to work out the arrangements.
Much discussion centered on the Enfield Idol contest. Michael said it would entail a great deal
of work with prescreening etc. Yvonne and Betty offered to help.
POSSIBLE FUTURE EVENTS
Michael presented information on "Traveling Art". Works of DaVinci etc. would be on
display ( at the library?) for one week. Rental fee would be $349. He will contact Henry
Dutcher if this would be possible.
The US Air Force Band contacted Betty and offered their Clarinet Quartet for a performance
in Feb. They play Classical, Marches, Latin and Jazz in a 1hr. & 15 min. show.
The Liberty Band we originally asked for is not taking reservations at this time.
Members suggested we pursue that Band for a performance in 2012. If not possible,
schedule the Quartet for Feb 7. Betty will call Fermi re: using their facility.
Michael announced that we are on Facebook. He also mentioned that the Enfield Patch
would be interested in interviewing our members in the future.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm with a motion by Yvonne Wollenberg and seconded by
Barbara Kelly.
Our next meeting will be held on December 6, 2011.
Respectfully submitted,
Betty Maguire, Chairperson
