Chairman Reidy reviewed how much money was left in this year’s budget and how much was given back last year.
FLAG PROGRAM
Nothing was discussed/voted on in this segment since Mr. Hartley was not at the meeting.
GARDEN CLUB
Ms. Tapp stated she would like to take care of the items she used to during her previous role in the Beautification Committee. She has prioritized several vacant sites throughout the town that need to be cleaned up/rid of weeds. She would like to start with the area across the street from Friendly’s on Elm Street. Chairman Reidy stated Bigelow Commons was going to take responsibility for that section, but have since declined.
Ms. Tapp mentioned she would like to have the Garden Club clean up the WWII memorial & Gazebo on the town Green. Mr. Secondo has requested to keep the plants small around the WWII memorial.
Chairman Reidy would also like to fix up the WWII memorial in Hazardville. She would like to take out the eus and replace with dwarf shrubs that can be easily taken care of.
Ms. Tapp would like to fix up the area around the electrical box on the town. Ms. Reidy and Ms. Bozzuto stated they will need compost for the soil for the Town Green projects. The committee will need to see if they can find someone to donate a truck load of compost.
Ms. Bozzuto stated the boat launch is almost complete. The kids who were painting the building should be finished this year and the residents who live around the launch have been cooperative in helping make the area look better.
ADOPT-A-SPOT
Ms. Tapp questioned the area near the post office on Route 5, whether they could get permission to turn that into an adopt-a-spot. Chairman Reidy stated she would check with the Town Manager and get permission from the State of Connecticut.
