ENFIELD ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

                                                       August 11, 2009

Present: Fran Slattery, Mary Keller (Liaison), Tim Jensen, Eddie Lapponese, Marian Dippel, Kris Couture, Tony Secondo, Mike Cotnoir, Sue Davis, Carl Neuschaefer

Mike called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The checkbook balance is $6,786.35 and the CD remains the same.  Mike mentioned that the checkbook balance does not reflect the 2 $1,000 scholarships that still have not been cashed.

Committees:

Nominating – All the nominees who were voted into the hall of fame have accepted.  They are: Kim Bridge, Bob Lengyl, Bill Newson, Kris Carvill, O’Connor, Jack Taylor, the George Daly award: Pat Uricchio and the team award, the 1984 Enfield High School Wrestling State Champs.  Mike said that everything is going well in regard to the pictures and bios from the inductees and will shortly be streamlining them for the plaques.

Scholarship – The winners of the scholarships are:

Enfield High – Mark Critz, Jr.

Fermi High – Britney Sroka

Amy Romano Scholarship – Nicholas Deni

Banquet – Kris reported she has the tickets in her possession for the Sept. 19th banquet at the Crowne Plaza and has distributed a portion of them to Mary at the Lamagna Center and Scott at his store.  She then added the following: the private reception for new and past hall of fame people will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the cocktail hour for all other guests at 5:45 p.m. Our program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets again are $30 and there is a choice of chicken, beef or vegetarian.  A child’s meal is available for $10. Finally, T shirts will again be available for $10.

Field Hockey Tournament – The tournament  was scheduled for June 7th but was  postponed until Sunday, Aug. 30th.  The Amy Romano Sports Committee, which includes hall of fame committee members, reported that 12 teams have signed up for this event and is scheduled for that afternoon and will be a 7 on 7 game.  Donations are still coming in for the tournament. Admission is $3 for all and the committee said it will also be having a raffle.  Concessions will be manned by the parents of Fermi and Enfield Highs field hockey programs. Additional volunteers are still needed.  Bottom line here is that the Amy Romano Sports Committee and the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame are co-sponsoring this tournament and the profits will be going to the Amy Romano scholarship.

Web Site – Mike will be getting the bios and pictures to Carl so that he can update our web site.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Next meeting is Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Center.
