ENFIELD ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
March 9, 2010
Present: Jerry Wingen, Bob Keller, Gary DiBattista, Mary Keller (Liaison), Kris Couture, Tony Secondo, Mike Cotnoir, Fran Slattery, Carl Neuschaefer
Mike called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Fran said our checkbook balance is $3,023.82 and the CD remains the same. Fran also added that over $900 was given to the hall of fame in memory of Eddie Lapponese. Lastly he mentioned that our banquet figures are running at a deficit, due to the fact that we willingly give complimentary tickets to previous hall of fame recipients plus the new inductees. This deficit is something that is going to have to be addressed by the committee in the coming months.
Committees:
Golf Tournament – Jerry said that the golf information has been reconfirmed, i.e. the date, meals, golf costs, etc. Tim is currently working on the brochure for the tournament and it will be going out to the golfers shortly. Jerry went on to say that Tim has invited 10 celebrities to our tournament. One of them, Dick McAuliffe, a former Tiger and Red Sox player has accepted the invite. Hopefully, others will attend also. Jerry mentioned that more help is needed to obtain sponsorships and raffle prizes from various companies, etc. so anyone on the committee willing to help out in this area will be very much welcomed.
Scholarships - Kris will be picking up the scholarships once the April vacation starts. She will then turn them over to the scholarship committee. The winners will be announced in May.
Banquet – Our induction banquet scheduled for Sept. 18th almost did not come off. The Crowne Plaza has now changed hands and is the Holiday Inn. Mike, when talking to the new people there, found that they had no record of our deposit and 2010 banquet date due to very poor record keeping by the previous owners. However, after showing them proof of deposit and banquet date time, those problems were solved They have since sent Mike the contract for the September banquet. However, we are still in need of their menu and prices. Mike said he would contact them to get this information as we may need to increase our ticket prices. Until we get this additional information, the committee will hold off on any decision concerning ticket prices.
By-Laws – The committee again tabled the proposed by-law concerning inclusion of an age category (10 year increments) when electing new inductees.
Nominating – Fran said the biographies for prospective inductees for 2010 will be handed out at the April meeting and the voting to take place in May.
Web Site – Carl said that our web site is currently up to date.
Next meeting is Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Senior Center.
