Minutes of the Enfield Clean Energy Special Meeting 1/18/12
A special meeting of the Enfield Clean Energy Committee was called to order at 6:42 pm.
The Committee discussed the upcoming Energy Expo.
-Jeff informed the Committee that there are currently 34 vendors including the Girl and Boy Scouts. The car dealers have responded and there will be several cars, not all with representatives present. The information about the event is out in all the major press, along with public service announcement that Doug did. Greg praised Doug’s performance in the PSA.
-Jeff stated that the kiosk is up at the mall, and urged members to check it out.
-The Committee went on to discuss various aspects of the show such as door prizes, scheduling and others. The Committee discussed prizes from vendors, Joel noted that one vendor is giving 25 packs of bio bricks as a door prize. The Committee decided on the schedule for drawing for door prizes. Karen noted that she has some low flow shower heads to contribute as prizes as well.
-Ray stated that he has the containers all set for food collections for the Food Shelf. The committee discussed handling donations.
-Jeff stated that he will have stacks of Newsletters and sign up forms. Karen stated that she will bring clipboards and pens.
-The Committee discussed technology aspects of the show such as displays, computers, and tv’s. Joel will bring a projector and laptop and will confirm with Darry Crowley that the TV in the cafeteria is available for use.
-The Committee went on to discuss getting the word out. Steve stated that it is out on Facebook and Greg stated that flyers are out all over as well.
-The group discussed the Home Energy Solutions program.
We will be working with 2-3 vendors; Lantern, CRI, and New England Conservation (for income eligible families). Interested Enfield residents would call Lantern. This vendor would in turn spread the energy audits among the three vendors. The CEC would receive a $25 referral fee for each resident.
-With the new energy regulations going in place on 2/1, any anticipated costs would be spread out on monthly electric bills. Any costs between $1200-$1800 could be made as a no-interest loan. Any over $1800 would be set up as a low-interest loan.
- A non-profit based in VT will cover costs for 6 energy audits with one condition; our group follow up with the customer concerning audit progress, satisfaction with service, etc., to determine if the customer would like to proceed to the second level based on audit recommendations. The group hopes the free audits would equate to one audit every month.
-The group discussed a catch-phrase to promote the program. “Show me the E-FACTS!” was considered the best. With audits being required for future installations for solar panels, etc., we hope the slogan would help promote the progress.
-Further discussion followed concerning tying up loose ends for the Energy Expo. The group felt that another special meeting would not be necessary and will communicate and co-ordinate through follow-up e-mails.-
At 8:25PM, Karen made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Greg. After a unanimous vote of approval, the meeting was adjourned. |
