ENFIELD CONSERVATION COMMISSION

September 13, 2005

CALL TO ORDER:  Chairman Mike Dynia called the meeting to order at 7:21 P.M. in the Enfield Room.

 

ROLL CALL:  Comm. LaPierre performed the roll call.  The following commissioners were in attendance:

PUBLIC INPUT: Chairman Dynia noted that there were no persons present to give public input.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:    Chairman Dynia asked for comments regarding the minutes of July 12, 2005.  Comm. George asked that under Aquifer Protection  the word large be changed to old.  Motion made by Comm. George to approve the minutes, seconded by Comm. La Pierre and So Voted.  Commissioners Wunch and Pfeifer-Hall Abstained.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:  Staff Liaison presented the book The Greening of Connecticut from DEP.  CACIWC dues need to be paid.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION: Motion made by Comm. George and seconded by Comm. Dynia to go into Executive Session and So Moved.  No decisions were made and no votes were taken.

 

OPEN SPACE ACQUISITION:  Comm. George asked if an 8x10 map of the Scantic River Greenway can be included with the letter to landowners along the Scantic.  Staff liaison will check with Engineering.

 

FARMLAND PRESERVATION:  Governor Rell has signed the Bill for Farmland Preservation, but it is being challenged in court.

 

AQUIFER PROTECTION:  No report

 

ARCHAEOLOGICAL PROTECTION:  No report

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS:  There will be no project for Family Day this year. The River Clean up will be held in early October and the Wadeable Streams project will also take place in October. The King's Island area is in need of a good clean up.

The Scenic Road project is being reviewed by the Town Attorney's office.

 

 

 

 

REAL ESTATE:   No report

 

STAFF LIAISON REPORT:    Information on the WHIP grant was presented.  Comm. asked if there is a map of open space in Town.  Staff liaison will check with the Planning office.  The Escarpment Workshop will be held in East Windsor.

 

Liaison Report - Northern CT Land Trust:   No report

 

Liaison Report - SRWA   The stream walk survey of the Scantic has been completed.  There was a wrap up session on August 16.  They are compiling the data for a final report/river guide.
