GENERAL GOVERNMENT SUBCOMMITTEE

Meeting Minutes

August 3, 2010

 

CALL TO ORDER

 

The General Government Subcommittee meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm.

 

ROLL CALL 

 

Present from the Committee were Carol Hall, Bill Edgar, Jake Keller, Virginia Higley, Suzanne Olechnicki, Ray Warren, Matt Coppler, Maria Elsden, Chris Wardrop USI and Sumer Dickinson USI

 

Chris Wardrop and Sumer Dickinson presented to the Committee a general overview of how limits of liability insurance are determined and the efforts the Town of Enfield are undertaking with the help of USI.

 

Specific discussions were as follows:

  • The aggregate limit on the Town’s liability insurance
  • Workman’s comp coverage
  • When the town will undertake a RFQ for liability and workman’s comp coverage

 

The Committee discussed the efforts the Town is currently undertaking regarding blight enforcement.

 

The committee requested the Town Attorney’s office review elements of the current property maintenance code to see if timeframes on enforcement can be reduced.

 

The Committee discussed ways to improve the existing code as well as the communication between those officials enforcing the code.

 

The Committee asked for a reporting tool for blight enforement be created to provide updates to Council.
