Selected Winter Events for Savvy Teens
 

January 2010

19           Teen Advisory Board 7:00 pm: We will focus on our VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY on February 6.  You must attend this meeting or be a regular Teen Advisory member to sign up to help at Connecticut Loves to Read Day.

 

22           NEW! Fiction to Film Series: Our new series starts with a screening of Stormbreaker on Friday, January 22 at 3:30 pm at the Enfield Central Library.  Refreshments will be served.  A discussion comparing the book and the movie will take place at JFK Middle School Library on Wednesday, February 3rd at 2:40.

 

February 2010

 

3              NEW! Fiction to Film Series: Our new series started with a screening of Stormbreaker in January.  A discussion comparing the book and the movie will take place at JFK Middle School Library on Wednesday, February 3rd at 2:40.  Read the book before attending.  The library will have extra copies on reserve for check out. 

 

6              CT Loves to Read Day 11:00 am: Various Enfield schools will put on performances to promote reading, and community leaders will serve as guest readers.  To volunteer to help with registration, raffles, decorating, etc. you must be a Teen Advisory member or attend the Teen Advisory Board meeting on January 19.  Call Mrs. Phillips for more information 763-7517.

 

23           Teen Advisory Board 7:00 pm: We will focus on our VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY on March 2.  You must attend this meeting or be a regular Teen Advisory member to sign up to help at Read Across America Day.

 

26           World Champion Athlete 7:00pm at JFK Middle School Auditorium.  World Champion Athlete and motivational speaker Chris Poulos will amaze you with his bicycle stunts while discussing bullying, respect and character.  Suitable for all school-aged children and young adults.*

 

March 2010         

              

2         Read Across America Day Book Swap 4:00 - 6:00 pm:  Teen Advisory Board members or those who attended the February Teen Advisory Board Meeting may volunteer to help at the children's book swap and story times to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. 

 

26        Fiction to Film Series: New Moon will begin at 3:30, followed by a brief discussion comparing the Stephenie Meyer books and movies.  This session will end at 6:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.

 

30        Teen Advisory Board 7:00 pm: Help to plan the spring and summer calendar of events.  This is a great group to have on your college applications or to provide volunteer opportunities.

 

 

* ALL EVENTS ON THIS CALENDAR ARE ON A DROP-IN BASIS.  NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
