The Division of Building Inspection is responsible for the public safety, health, and welfare in the built environment through evaluation of structural strength, adequate means of egress facilities, sanitary equipment, light and ventilation, and fire safety. The division performs plan reviews for construction of homes, buildings and other structures to ensure compliance with the Connecticut General Statutes and the Connecticut State Building Code. Compliance inspections are done during and at the completion of construction. In general, the Division of Building Inspection strives to secure safety to life and property from all hazards incident to the design, erection, repair, removal, demolition, or occupancy of buildings, structures, or premises. |
