Special Operations

In 2008, Enfield EMS launch the first aspect of our Special Operations Team when we trained a select few paramedics to work with the Enfield Police Department on tactical events. These paramedics attended special training with Smith & Wesson before training with EPD.

In 2010, the EMS Division began conversations about expanding that program to provide a number of different special services. These services will include participation with the Enfield Fire District Special Operations Team (USAR, Hazardous Material, and high-angle rescue). It may also include participation with the regional police SWAT team (CREST).

In order to qualify for the EMS Division Special Operation Team, team members must meet the 50th percentile standards of the police CHIP test, meet annual paramedic competencies, complete tactical medical training and attend SWAT school.
