History
Enfield has a long and unique history when it comes to ambulance service. For more than forty years, the John Maciolek American Legion Post 154 has provided material and financial support to Enfield EMS. Enfield's first ambulance service was provided by the Maciolek Post under the name "Enfield Community Ambulance" before being transferred to the Enfield Police Department. Following that transfer, the Maciolek Post continued to purchase ambulances, order supplies, and conduct fund raising. The Legion continues to provide support to Enfield EMS today.
By 2005, demand for ambulance service had increased substantially and the Town was contracting with American Medical Response (AMR) to provide service to the Town's residents. After a long evaluation process, the Town Council decided that it was in the best interest of the town to operate a municipally-based EMS service and the EMS Division was born. In 2007, we ran our first ALS call. Since then, the organization has continued to grow and develop. |
