GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Primary duties include shelving library materials, moving collections, assistingwith displays, and working on special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Circulation Manager with general procedural and policy guidelines.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Regular & punctual attendance; checks materials for repair or discard needs; shelves library materials that are ready to go back into circulation; assists with display set up; empties book drop; shifts collections to new locations; assists Library Assistants and Librarians with programming needs; works on special projects as assigned; performs book repair functions; "reads" the library shelves to be sure that the materials remains in order on the shelves; performs related work as required and assigned as needs demand.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: This job requires the ability to file items both alphabetically and according to the Dewey Decimal System of classification following standard filing rules.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, grasp, feel, or operate objects, and hear or talk. The employee is often required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Hand-eye coordination is necessary to file materials on library shelves, check the computer library catalogue.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Employee performs complex tasks requiring independent knowledge and its application to non-routine situations.
Noise level in the work environment is generally quiet. May be exposed to dust, fluctuation in inside temperatures and electro-magnetic radiation as in a computer screen.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Ability to work quickly and accurately; neat clean, orderly, quiet; ability to understand and carry out oral or written directions; willingness to follow a prescribed routine; industrious, ability to deal with the public with tact and courtesy, referring them to Library Assistants for in depth help; ability to get along well with others.
