TOWN OF ENFIELD
PART-TIME ASSISTANT – Seasonal position until approximately May 15, 2009
RATE OF PAY: $10.00 per hour
CLOSING DATE: Tuesday, December 16, 2008
EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Graduation from high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma (GED) and one (1) year of office experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
HOURS OF WORK: up to 16 hours per week, flexible between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. M-F
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Involves a wide variety of clerical tasks and provides office support to Neighborhood Services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision of the Neighborhood Services Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Regular & punctual attendance; answers phones; tracks and provides daily statistics; types newsletters and mailings; conducts intakes for energy assistance applications, home owner tax relief program and veteran tax relief program. Home visits.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs other related work as required.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, reach with arms and hands, stand, use hands to finger, grasp handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Hand-eye coordination is required for operation of computer and various office equipment.

Must be able to remember multiple assignments given over long periods of time. Must be able to perform tasks requiring independent knowledge in addition to procedures or instructions provided.
May be exposed to dust, fluctuations in inside temperature and electro-magnetic radiation as a computer screen.
Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Must be a proficient typist and knowledgeable of varied office procedures; clerical ability; ability to accurately follow written and oral instructions; knowledgeable of office machines; must be able to deal effectively and courteously with the general public. Must be proficient on computer and be knowledgeable in Microsoft software, specifically Word, Excel and Publisher.
