Summer Camp Director
- RATE OF PAY: $12.75-#13.00/hr
- CLOSING DATE: Friday April 24, 2009
- EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school degree or equivalent. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in camp programming. Must successfully complete Town of Enfield sponsored First Aid and CPR training programs. A college degree in Recreation, Education or a related field is desirable.
- HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week. Seasonal position.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for the administration of a comprehensive outdoor summer full day camp.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of the Assistant Recreation Supervisor. Work is subject to review for conformance to general department procedures and results obtained.
SUPERVISON EXERCISED: Directly oversees seasonal camp staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsible for planning camp activities including: maintaining of payroll and equipment inventory; corresponding with the public regarding programs; reviewing present programs and making recommendations for future programs; supervising the daily operation of the camp program and staff; does related work as required.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Requisitioning equipment and materials needed for camp; scheduling work assignments; evaluating seasonal camp staff; coordinating seasonal staff training programs; performing inspections of camp facilities; chaperoning weekly trips; reviewing daily paperwork; other duties as assigned.

Work performed is split between an outdoor camp setting and an office setting. A great deal of outdoor work is required along with traveling between camp and the Recreation Office.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to operate a motor vehicle, sit, stand, talk, hear, smell, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Must be able to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption. Must be able to remember task/assignment given to self and others over long periods of time. Must be able to perform highly complex and varied tasks requiring independent knowledge, its application to a variety of situations as well as exercise independent judgement.
The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and liabilities of outdoor camp programming; knowledge of the care and maintenance of camp facilities; ability to keep simple payroll and inventory records; prepare simple written reports of the camp operation and attendance; ability to deal with the public, superiors, associates, subordinates and children in a courteous manner.
