TOWN OF ENFIELD

INVITATION TO BIDDERS

 

Special Inspection and Geotechnical Engineering Services

 

 

 

Sealed bids will be received on Special Inspection Services, for Renovations and Additions to Henry Barnard, Eli Whitney, Edgar Parkman, Hazardville Memorial, Prudence Crandall, Nathan Hale, and Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary Schools, Enfield, Connecticut.  As well as the Special Inspection Services for new construction of the Enfield Senior Center.

 

The elementary school Work consists of approximately 35,000 sq. ft. of additions, and minor renovations to seven elementary schools with attendant mechanical, electrical, and site work as called for in Bidding Documents prepared by the Architect, Jeter, Cook & Jepson Architects, Inc., 450 Church Street, Hartford, Connecticut 06103, (860) 247-9226.  The senior center Work consists of approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of new construction as called for in Bidding Documents prepared by the Architect, Lazarus and Sargeant Architects, Ltd., 50 North Main Street, Wallingford, CT 06492, (203) 265-3194.

 

Only Bidders that can provide in-house Testing, Reporting and Inspection Services for Soils and Foundations, Cast-In-Place Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel, Cold Form Metal Framing and other Special Cases are eligible to bid this work.  Bids shall include a Lump Sum for the Total Work of each of the Schools and the Senior Center. Each project will be reported and inspected separately and managed separately.

 

Bidding Documents may be examined at the F. W. Dodge Plan Rooms in Rocky Hill or at the office of the Town of Enfield Public Works, 40 Moody Road, Enfield, CT.

 

Copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained at the office of the Town of Enfield Public Works, 40 Moody Road, Enfield, CT 06082 during the hours of 9:00am to 4:00pm on or after September 21, 2001.  Deposit will be $400. for the drawings and specifications, check made payable to The Town of Enfield.  No partial sets of Documents will be issued.

 

A deposit refund will be made if the documents are returned in good condition within ten (15) calendar days after the due date for submittal of bids.  Deposits will be forfeited for any sets not so returned.

 

Prepare proposal on the Bid Form provided.  Submit four (4) signed copies of the Bid sealed and delivered to the office of the Director of Finance, Town Hall, 820 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082, on or before 11:00 AM, Monday October 01, 2001.  Bids delivered after that time will not be accepted.  Bids will be opened publicly at that time and read aloud.  After careful review the right is reserved to reject any and all bids or to waive defects in same if deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Enfield.  The name of the project must be clearly marked on the envelope of all sealed bids.

 

Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of 90 days after the due date for submittal without the written consent of the Owner.

 

A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 24, 2001, at the Town of Enfield Public Works, 40 Moody Road, Enfield, CT.  Bidders are required to attend and participate in the conference to be considered for the work.

 

A Bid Security of ten percent (10%) of the bid shall be filed with the Bid.  It may be either a certified check or a Bid Bond made payable to the Town of Enfield.  The successful Bidder shall furnish Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds, each for 100 percent of the Contract Sum following notice of award.  A certificate of insurance with the Town of Enfield, named as additional insured, must be submitted with the bid package.

 

It is the Town of Enfield’s intention that some of the work will begin on or about October 08, 2001 and most of the work be completed by December 30, 2002.

 

The Owner reserves the right to accept any bid or reject any or all bids and to waive information in the bidding.
