Volunteer Opportunities

The Enfield Department of Social Services has many options for volunteers and interns depending on how you want to invest your time and talents. You can volunteer to assist DSS staff with a range of learning, recreational & social activities, field trips, special events, office support, serving meals or fundraising. All Town volunteers must have a criminal background check and depending on the program, additional screening maybe required. Whether you’re interested in working with children, youth, or seniors – Enfield DSS has an opportunity for you. Please see the list of opportunities below:

Enfield Child Development Center - The Enfield Child Development Center serves infants and children up to age 12. ECDC is a nationally accredited and State licensed early care and education program that’s open from 6:30AM – 5:30PM, Monday – Friday. Enfield Family Resource Centers - Enfield has 2 Family Resource Centers (FRCs) - one at Henry Barnard School and one at the Stowe Early Learning Center. The FRCs are open year-round and provide a range of play groups for children up to age five, support groups for Parents, Dads, Grandparents and other caregivers, and host special community events. Enfield Youth & Family Services – Enfield Youth & Family Services works with children 8 years of age and older, and their families by providing counseling services, coordinating community activities and operating a Youth Center. Youth Services works closely with the Enfield Public Schools in supporting its students. Day time, evening and weekend hours are available. Weekend Meal Program – The Town of Enfield offers senior residents homemade nutritious lunches on the weekend at the Mark Twain Congregate Living Center. Social and recreational activities are also provided. The Weekend Meal Program operates from 11:00AM – 1:00PM on Saturday & Sunday, and on holidays. Enfield Dial-A-Ride – Enfield Dial-A-Ride provides transportation for senior and disabled residents to a variety of locations both in Enfield and out-of-town. Volunteers are needed to work flexible schedules providing out-of-town transportation to medical appointments in Town-owned vehicles. Enfield Senior Minor Repair Program - The Enfield Commission On Aging is looking for volunteers to assist seniors in our community with minor home repairs.  The Minor Repair Program provides volunteers with the opportunity to utilize their skills to assist Enfield seniors remain in their homes with safety and comfort.
