The Enfield Dial-A-Ride program provides affordable in-town rides to residents age 60 and over or who have a physical disability that prevents them from driving.

Enfield Dial-A-Ride provides trips to anywhere within the Town of Enfield. We provide rides to routine medical appointments, dialysis appointments, grocery shopping, banking, senior activities, beauty/barber appointments, the library, post office, pharmacy, town hall, food shelf, etc.
Any resident of the Town of Enfield who is 60 years of age or older or has a permanent or temporary physical disability that prevents driving is eligible to use the Dial-A-Ride service. A Dial-A-Ride membership is required to use Dial-A-Ride services. Membership is renewable annually on January 1st.

The annual fee for Dial-A-Ride service membership is $120 starting January 1st. As an incentive, if you pay in full by January 31, your rate will be $110.00
Membership begins on the date your application is received and ends on December 31st of that year. If you join Dial-A-Ride After October 26 the membership is prorated to $60 for the remaining calendar year.
Days & Hours of Operation
Dial-A-Ride operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm
- Medical and Dental appointments
- Grocery shopping, banking, and other appointments
- Lunch and other Senior Center programs
- Visits to Enfield nursing homes, friends, libraries, and restaurants
For reservations, please call 860-272-3545 by 12:00 noon at least two (2) business day before your appointment to reserve your ride. Please schedule your ride to medical appointments with us as soon as possible so we can prioritize getting you there. No medical appointments after 3:00 p.m.
When you call in your ride reservation, please be prepared to tell us:
- Your name
- Your address
- Your telephone number
- Your destination
- The day and, if applicable, the time of the appointment
- Where you will be waiting for the driver (front/back door, community building, etc.)
- Whether you use a wheelchair, electric scooter or need the lift and will have a companion or aide riding with you for assistance.
If you call after office hours, you may leave a message with the ride information. Our office staff will call you back as soon as possible to confirm the ride.
Cancellation/Alteration of Services
If you cannot make a scheduled Dial-A-Ride appointment, please call our office as soon as possible to notify our staff so they may cancel your ride. This includes having someone else return you from an appointment instead of Dial-A-Ride.
If you need to alter a previous appointment, such as changing the time, date, location, etc., please call our office as soon as you know so that we may make the appropriate changes. If changes are requested after noon prior to your appointment, we cannot guarantee changes can be made.
Dial-A-Ride does not operate on the following holidays:

- President's Day

- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Veteran's Day
- Day after Thanksgiving

Questions, Comments, or Complaints
We aim to continually improve our service. We welcome your comments and suggestions. If you would like further information about Dial-A-Ride or would like to make a comment or file a complaint about Dial-A-Ride, please call 860-272-3545, Monday through Friday between 8 am and 4 pm.
Prepare to be ready 45 minutes before the appointment time. Watch for your driver to pull up in front of your home. Our goal is to deliver you to your appointment on time. When the driver arrives, she or he will beep the horn and wait for you at the curb. Passengers must be able to reach the bus independently. If you are traveling in a wheelchair or mobility device, you must be able to manage independently or bring an adult companion or aide to assist you. Our drivers help with wheelchair clients on and off the vehicle and secure wheelchairs into position on the vehicle only. Drivers are not permitted to enter homes or buildings. Our Drivers will not use the driveway for safety considerations. Please respond promptly to the bus horn. All passengers are required to wear seat belts by law.
Please do not ask the driver to make unscheduled stops; all appointments need to be made through the Transportation dispatcher.
Passengers requiring assistance may bring an escort with them. Escorts ride for free. Please let us know you will bring an escort with you when you call to reserve your ride. If requests for Dial-A-Ride service exceed our capacity on a given day, we may need to limit rides.
Please limit the number of shopping bags to no more than three bags or what can fit in your seat/space. The driver will not be able to help you carry your purchases.
