A Message from Chief of Police, Alaric J. Fox
The Enfield Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to the safety and well-being of the residents of, and visitors to, our community. Our department has enjoyed recognition as a nationally accredited law enforcement agency, through the Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), since August 3, 1996. We are one of only twenty departments within the state to enjoy this designation.
The department is organized into various units, including uniformed patrol, traffic services, a detective bureau, school resource officers, canine teams, motorcycle units, and various administrative functions. Further, our agency partners in several regional law enforcement functions, including most notably, Metro Traffic Services (MTS) and the Capitol Region Emergency Response Team (CREST). We are pleased to promote department efficiency with the latest technological advances in policing including mobile data terminals, in-car camera systems, license plate readers, data driven policing capabilities, in–house remote data access, an in-house crime scene processing area, a mobile command post, and electronic citations.
Perhaps most importantly, however, our policing focus continues to be our efforts to promote cooperation and collaboration within our community. We recognize the tremendous value of a positive working relationship with our many stakeholders, including other town departments, social service organizations, fire and medical service providers, the media, grassroots organizations, and our many state and federal law enforcement partners. It is through these positive relationships that this department first earns, and then maintains, community trust. Our department succeeds when the town’s 45,000 residents, our business community, and our service providers, all succeed.
As the Enfield Police Department moves into the future our core function, the core function of any police department, remains unchanged: To detect and address criminal violations and to promote the public safety. The way in which we do this, however, is the hallmark of a great police department. Whether it be traditional patrol and community policing, or newer areas of concern such as active aggressor, school security, the opioid crisis, domestic violence intake screenings, and the use of social media, the men and women of the Enfield Police Department are committed to their profession and to service to this community. I am proud to lead them in this honorable undertaking.
