Transfer Station Operations

The Town of Enfield Transfer Station is for recycling, bulky waste and yard waste, and is located at 77 Town Farm Road.

Hours

  • Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The station is closed on holidays. In the event of a Monday holiday, the transfer station will be closed on Tuesday.

Any questions or concerns, particularly those relating to commercial permits, borrowed vehicles and temporary permits should be directed to the Refuse and Resource Management Division at 860-763-7527.

Transfer Station Procedures

Residential Usage & Fees

Permits are available for purchase at the Transfer Station - vehicle registration showing Enfield residency is required. With a valid permit, yard waste may be brought to the Transfer Station and disposed of without additional fees. No permit is required and there are no fees charged for scrap metal, cardboard, televisions, microwaves, and electronics. Residents bringing other materials will be required to have a current residential permit and will be charged an additional weight fee (see below).

Staff will be on site to assist residents with any questions or concerns. Vehicles will be required to weigh in and weigh out for record keeping and billing purposes.

Bulky (non-yard waste) material
$10.00 for loads up to 260 pounds (flat fee)
Bulky (non-yard waste) material $0.10 per pound of material for loads over 260 pounds (for entire load)
Yard waste (leaves & grass). Leaves are to be placed in brown kraft bags or in loose form only. NO plastic bags. $0.00 per pound of material
Brush & tree debris (no longer than 6' in length & 12 inches in diameter.  NO stumps.) $0.07 per pound of material after 5th visit
Metal (must be weighed separately). $0.00 per pound of material
Refrigeration units (incl. refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidfiers, etc). $20.00 per unit

* Commercial vehicle shall be defined as any commercially registered vehicle or any vehicle rated over 10,000 pounds GVW

Prohibited Items

The following items are NOT accepted at the Transfer Station:

  • Hazardous Waste
  • Household Trash
  • Tires 
  • Rocks
  • Concrete
  • Asphalt
  • Logs greater than 12 inches in diameter
  • Stumps

Transfer Station Operation Fact Sheet

The Transfer Station is a convenient location to dispose of bulky items that can't be thrown into your refuse tipper. Please consider recycling when you make a trip to the Transfer Station. Textiles should be separated and placed in our textile recycling trailer. Electronics may be placed in the electronics recycling area. Cardboard may be disposed of in our cardboard recycling bins. Scrap metal can be placed in the scrap metal dumpster. All of these recyclable items are free to dispose of. State and Federal law prohibit the improper disposal of recyclable materials and the Staff at the Transfer Station is on site to assist you with any questions you may have.
