Communication is more than just talking and listening – it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join Patty O’Brian from the Alzheimer’s Association on Thursday, March 26 at 6 p.m. for Effective Communication Strategies to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s. Learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.
Join us for a fun-filled trip to the Newport Playhouse on March 26, 2015. Enjoy the comedic show “When the Cat Gets Away.” This play is about what happens when two wives go off on a trip to Paris, and then the "mice will play". Their philandering husbands agree to invite two charming little sex kittens over. Well, you already know what happens, don't you? The wives come home prematurely! Prior to the show, enjoy a buffet lunch then enter into their theatre to see the show, followed by a fun-filled Cabaret. Price: $106 per person. Secure your reservation soon; reservations are filling fast for this fun day.
We just added two more trips to our travel program. If you’re in the mood to laugh, join us for the “I Love Lucy” Live on Stage show at the Waterbury Palace Theater on May 31, 2015. The price is $123 per person. And, if you’re a Red Sox fan you won’t want to miss out on our 3-day trip to Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC to view the historic sites of these cities and attend two Red Sox/Orioles games at Camden Yards. The price of this trip is $527 per person/double occupancy. Trip flyers are available at the Senior Center and by visiting our website. Reservations are currently being taken for both of these trips. Space is limited so don’t wait too long.
