News Release for the Week of August 31, 2015

The Corvettes are back! They are ready to Shake, Rattle, and Roll on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. Enjoy some of the great hits of the 50s like Little Darlin’, At the Hop, and Twistin’ the Night Away. Dessert and coffee will be served at the break. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person and are going fast.

Our local firefighters are coming back again! The Firefighter Picnic will be held on Wednesday, September 2, at noon, at Enfield Rotary Park at the Enfield Senior Center. Bring a chair and enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs grilled by our Enfield firefighters. If the weather is inclement, the picnic will be held on Thursday, September 3.

Golf Fit is a class that teaches you exercises to reduce injuries and add flexibility. The class is held on Thursdays from 1 to 1:45 p.m. from September 10 to October 15. The cost is $18 for residents and $24 for non-residents. Please register in the office.

Shirleen Peabody, Broker Associate of Coldwell Residential Brokerage, will be available for private consultations on Wednesday, September 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. She is a designated “Senior Real Estate Specialist.” She can answer your questions on any real estate issues you may have. Call the Senior Center for an appointment with Ask the Realtor.

A six-week educational program, Powerful Tools for Caregivers, will begin on Monday, September 14 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. This program, offered though Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, helps caregivers take care of themselves. Learn to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, and locate helpful resources. Register in the Senior Center office.

We are trying something new. It is very simple. You bring a joke and we go around in a circle with each person telling their joke. Join the Laugh Café on Tuesday, September 15 from 10 to 11 a.m.

The date for the 4 TROOPS show at Foxwoods previously scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 has been changed to Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Registration for this trip opens on Friday, September 18, 2015, at 10 a.m., in the Senior Center Dining Room. The price of this trip is $80.00 per person.

There are still a few seats available on our trip to New York State’s Hyde Park on September 16, 2015. Enjoy lunch at the Culinary Institute of America followed by a visit to the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. The price of this trip is $131 per person. Stop by the Senior Center front desk to register.

• “It’s a Wonderful Life” at Goodspeed Opera House, Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Cost: $149 per person. Sign-up date: September 25, 2015, 10 a.m.
• Lee Greenwood “Tennessee Christmas” at Foxwoods, Thursday, December 3, 2015. Cost: $94 per person. Sign-up date: October 9, 2015, 10 a.m.

Multi-Day Adventures
Reservations are being accepted for multi-day adventures.
• Eastern Caribbean Escape Cruise, January 22 – February 1, 2016. Cost: $1395 pp/double/inside cabin.
• Discover Switzerland, Austria, and Bavaria, September 14 – 23, 2016. Cost: $3599 pp/double.
