News Release for the Week of September 21, 2015
Beatles tribute band, Beatles for Sale, is an award-winning, New England-based group of talented musicians. We are so fortunate to have this amazing musical group at the Enfield Senior Center on Friday, October 23 at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person including coffee and dessert. They always draw a crowd and are a favorite of Beatles enthusiasts.
Medication Take Back Day is Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Enfield Police Department. Prescription drugs cause the largest percentage of deaths from drug overdosing. Properly disposing of medications keeps medicine out of the hands of someone who might abuse them and also protects the environment. You can bring unwanted medications to the Police Department drug drop box anytime, 24/7, but you may also want to join this National Take Back Day.
Income Tax time is still a few months away. Volunteer preparers are urgently needed to do taxes for older adults through the AARP Tax-Aide program. Training starts in November. If you are interested in helping at the Enfield Senior Center, please sign up at aarp.org.
On Friday, October 2 at 6 p.m., local band, FullKrew is playing rock and roll dance music. Dessert and coffee will be served at the break for $7 per person. We also have a magic show on Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale for The Magic of Brian Miller for $7 per person. Get your tickets early so you don’t miss out.
We will be showing the movie “Still Alice” on Thursday, September 24 at 6 p.m. Have a turkey grinder at 5 p.m. if you like. Please purchase the movie and meal ticket in advance for $5. If you would just like to see the movie you can pay $2 at the door.
Have you heard about coloring books for adults? Many people find coloring to be calming. Join us for a relaxing evening on Wednesday, October 14 at 5:30 p.m. for Coloring for Stress Relief. We provide the coloring sheets, colored pencils, and a relaxing cup of tea. There is no charge for this event but registration is requested.
Something amazing happened. People came for the Laugh Café and really, really had fun. They shared jokes and had some great belly laughs. The group will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
