News Release for the Week of November 30, 2015

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Enfield Senior Center at noon. Noon Year’s Eve begins at 8:30 a.m. with a breakfast gathering in the Dining Room. We will have Meditation and Chair Yoga classes to start the New Year fresh. Play cards, participate in a craft, or just have a cup of coffee. Lunch will be served at noon with a special dessert and a bubbly toast. Reservations are required for lunch by calling 860-763-7428. We will get a head start on welcoming 2016!

Our January and February classes can be found in the December issue of Front & Center available in the Senior Center office. Registration for January and February classes begins on Tuesday, December 8 at 8:30 a.m. for residents and Tuesday, December 15 at 8:30 a.m. for nonresidents. Purchasing a membership to Prime Fitness at the Enfield Senior Center, tickets to an event, or a buying a series of classes makes a wonderful holiday gift.

Moondance is the ultimate Van Morrison Tribute Concert and they will be appearing at the Enfield Senior Center on Friday, December 4 at 6 p.m. Listen to classics like “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You”, “Brown Eyed Girl”, “Domino”, “Tupelo Honey” and of course “Into the Mystic” and “Moondance”. Tickets are on sale for Moondance – Van Morrison Tribute Band Concert for $7 per person and includes dessert and coffee.

The Rotary Club of Enfield is having a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, December 5 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Senior Center. Stop in for breakfast and support the charitable activities of the Rotary Club. Tickets are sold at the door for $5 per person.

On Friday, December 11, you can dance to the sounds of keyboardist Richie Mitnick at our Ballroom Dance beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets are $3 at the door and include a snack at the break.

Create a beautiful Stoneware Ornament on Tuesdays from December 1 to December 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. Start by learning clay techniques to create your ornament, then learn waxing and glazing. You will leave with an ornament ready for hanging. Space is limited, so register early for this brand new class. The cost is $12 for residents and $15 for nonresidents.

Now is the time to start making your travel plans for next year. We have some wonderful European vacations planned. You can cruise the Danube River on The Legendary Blue Danube River Cruise or Discover Switzerland, Austria and Bavaria, both trips being offered in September 2016. We also have a June trip planned to see the Baltic Capitals on a wonderful, fully escorted, Scandinavian Splendor Cruise. In addition to our international trips, we have a once in a lifetime adventure planned to America’s Canyon Country, also in June. This is a great opportunity to celebrate America’s National Park Services Centennial. If palm trees and tropical islands are more your style, join us for an October Autumn Repositioning Cruise with a stop in New Orleans. Many day trips, including a trip to the Metropolitan Opera or a multi-day trip to Pennsylvania, Nova Scotia, or the White Mountains are also available. • The Metropolitan Opera “Otello”, April 23, 2016. Cost $153 - $162 pp. Reservations being taken at this time.
