News Release for the Week of January 11, 2016

Rob Zappulla and his band will be bringing his very popular show, Sinatra & All That Jazz, to the Enfield Senior Center on Friday, January 29 at 6 p.m. Frank Sinatra would have celebrated his 100th birthday on December 12. If you are a Sinatra fan, this is a tribute that you do not want to miss. Tickets are on sale in the Senior Center office for $7 per person and includes coffee and dessert at the break.

Drive Time is a local band that plays blues, rock and soul. Get your tickets to our upcoming dance on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 6 p.m. Spend an evening listening, clapping or moving to great classic music. Tickets are on sale for the Drive Time Dance for $7 per person and includes a dessert and coffee at the break.

Two new exciting programs will be starting in February. Boxing & More: Exercise with Parkinson’s on Wednesdays beginning February 3 from 3 to 4 p.m. Also, we will begin a free Weight Management Series on Wednesday, February 3 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for six weeks. Watch for the February newsletter for more information or register in the Senior Center office.

Start out the New Year informed. AARP Fraud Watch Network: The Con Artist Playbook is coming to the Enfield Senior Center on Wednesday, January 13 at 1 p.m. Chris Mattei, the former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Financial Fraud and Public Corruption Unit will be joining Fraud Watch volunteer Bob Rodman at this presentation. You will see some compelling video of actual scam artists and have an opportunity to have all of your questions answered. Please register in the Senior Center office so we can have enough materials for everyone.

Are you or anyone you know thinking about looking for a job? Learn all of the latest job seeker resources at AARP 50+ Job Seeker: Tip & Tools with AARP State Director Nora Duncan on Thursday, January 14 at 6 p.m. Please register by calling the Senior Center office.

Join us for a fun-filled Saturday afternoon out on the town on March 26, 2016 to see “Motown the Musical” at the Bushnell Theatre in Hartford. This musical is the true American story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, and many more. A delicious lunch is included at the Chowder Pot restaurant. Reservations are being accepted at the Senior Center Front Desk for $154 per person. We are also taking reservations for a trip to the Lincoln Center in New York City to The Metropolitan Opera to see “Otello” on Saturday, April 23, 2016. Often cited as opera’s greatest tragedy, “Otello” is a miraculous union of music and drama, a masterpiece as profound philosophically as it is thrilling theatrically. Ticket price ranges from $153 - $162 per person for Balcony seating. Don’t wait; tickets are going fast for these two great shows.

• Newport Playhouse “One Slight Hitch”, April 12, 2016. Cost: $91 pp. Trip sign-up date is February 5, 2016.

• “Shadows of the 60s” at Foxwoods Resort, May 18, 2016. Cost $80 per person. Trip sign-up date is March 18, 2016.
