News Release for the Week of March 7, 2016

Two important evidence-based programs are beginning at the Enfield Senior Center this month. On Mondays beginning March 28, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., we are offering the Live Well Diabetes Self-Management Workshop. You will learn about what to eat, foot care, low and high blood sugar, tips for dealing with stress and many more topics. Another six-week workshop will be held on Thursdays starting March 31 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop is for people with health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, depression, arthritis, pain and anxiety or those caring for someone with those conditions. Both workshops are sponsored by the CT State Department on Aging and the CT Department of Public Health. There is no charge for these six-week sessions but registration is required.

We would really appreciate it if you pick up a survey form, complete it, and return it to the front desk. Our annual Participant Satisfaction Survey helps us to see where we can make improvements. If you want to take the survey online, just go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FMKZJN9. Thanks for your help.

The Enfield Senior Center is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner and entertainment by Irish balladeers, The Kerry Boys. Join us on Friday, March 18 at 5 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $15 per person. Wear your green!

As the days get warmer, you may want to take a walk on the Senior Center Walking Trail. It is a ¼ mile circular trail with two benches and strength training equipment along the way. It is nice to think that very soon, we will be able to walk the trail every day.

Please register in the Senior Center office.
