News Release for the Week of March 28, 2016

PRIME Fitness at the Enfield Senior Center provides all of the equipment found in a large gym in a comfortable environment. Individual programs are designed by a fitness professional for each member. During the month of April, you can join for a trial month for $25. If you would like to continue, the $25 will apply to your annual membership. You may also have a Medicare Supplemental Plan that includes Silver Sneakers. If you do, you can join PRIME Fitness for free. Call 860-272-3554 for more information.

The Senior Minor Home Repair Program is gearing up for an April start. If you have a minor repair that these dedicated volunteers can help you with, call the Enfield Senior Center at 860-763-7425 and leave the required information. A representative from the Repair Program will call you back with an appointment time.

We are looking for a few good volunteers. We are going to start serving toast with our coffee and tea in the morning. We need early risers who will make the toast for participants from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Once we have a full complement of volunteers, we can start toasting English muffins or wheat and white toast with jelly or butter. Sometimes you just need a mid-morning snack with your coffee. Call the Senior Center office if you can help.

Take a trip to the Caribbean without leaving Enfield. White-Eyed Lizard Band plays familiar Caribbean steel drum island music like Day-O, One Love and Three Little Birds. You can relax and enjoy the music and almost feel the warm tropical breezes. Dessert and coffee will be served at the break. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person for the Friday, April 8, 6 p.m. performance.

The iPad User Group meets on the second Monday of each month from 1 to 2 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, April 11. At the meeting, the collaborative group shares information that they have learned from using their iPad. Some people bring problems and others have the solution. Join us!

A six-week workshop will be held on Thursdays starting March 31 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop is for people with health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, depression, arthritis, pain and anxiety or those caring for someone with those conditions. The workshop is sponsored by the CT State Department on Aging and the CT Department of Public Health. There is no charge for the six-week session but registration is required.
