News Release for the Week of June 27, 2016

The Nifty Fifties Band is coming back! They will be performing highly charged hits of the 50s and 60s and beyond on Friday, July 22 at 6 p.m. This is no typical oldies band. Their sense of fun is contagious. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person and includes dessert and coffee.

Enjoy a free movie this summer at 1 p.m. in July and August. On Thursday, July 14 watch “Brooklyn” and on Thursday, July 28 we will show the movie “Daddy’s Home.” Beat the heat with an indoor movie.

Our Men’s Strength Training class begins on Wednesday, July 6 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. for six sessions. Strengthen your upper and lower body while improving your joint health, balance and stability. This guided, small group workout is the perfect way to stay in shape. The cost is $18 for residents and $24 for non-residents.

During the five weeks of August, we are offering a trial Zumba Gold class on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Nicole, our new instructor, encourages those new to Zumba to take part in her class in the air-conditioned Senior Center. The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents. What a good way to try Zumba Gold!

Are You Smarter Than a Senior? Join host DJ Sir James from WKND on Thursday, July 7 at 12:30 p.m. to find out. Try this quiz show with questions from the 40s to the 60s. Sir James will be bringing some giveaways and prizes. This free event is sponsored by Panda Home Care.

If you need a little extra exercise for the summer months, we are offering Summer Senior Boot Camp on Tuesdays, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Fitness instructor Laura Namnoun takes you through exercise stations that challenge you and improve fitness level. The class begins on July 5 for 7 sessions. The cost is $21 for residents and $28 for non-residents.

We are offering a wonderful eight-day trip to Ireland, with direct flights from Bradley International Airport, on March 22 to 29, 2017. This trip combines fabulous accommodations, stunning scenery and sumptuous food. The price is $2499 per person, double occupancy. If you’re looking for a fun filled day trip this summer, join us as we explore some of the “Berkshire’s Hidden Gems” on July 8, 2016. Our first stop will be at the Berkshire Botanical Garden, encompassing 15 acres of functional and ornamental gardens, followed by lunch at Michael’s Restaurant and a tour of Chesterwood, which is the country home, studio and gardens of Daniel Chester French. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, join us for our “Exploring Boston & Whale Watching” trip on August 18, 2016. View some of Boston’s historical sites as we follow the Freedom Trail. A local step-on guide will journey through time with you to share the story of each historical location. After lunch at Maggiano’s Restaurant, we’ll be on our way for a whale watch excursion, aboard a specially designed high-speed catamaran. Registration for these trips are being taken at the Enfield Senior Center Front Desk.

• Discover Woodstock Vermont/Billings Farm Museum, September 6, 2016. Cost: $139 per person. Trip sign-up date is July 15, 2016, 10 am.
• “CT Rail & Sail”, Essex Steam Train, Becky Thatcher Riverboat, Lyman Orchards, September 23, 2016. Cost: $107 per person. Trip sign-up date is July 22, 2016, 10 am.
• Lake Winnipesaukee Brunch Cruise, October 16, 2016. Cost: $119 per person. Trip sign-up date is August 19, 2016, 10 am.

Reservations are being accepted for multi-day adventures.

• Alaska Land & Cruise, June 11 – 23, 2017. Cost: $4599 pp/double/plus taxes.
