News Release for the Week of April 3, 2017

Jaime Ingaran, our Evening Program Assistant, has taken another position in her field. While we are very happy for Jaime as she uses her education and training in Human Services, we are really going to miss her. We have come to count on Jaime for her organization skills, her helpful attitude and her calm and confident demeanor. Best of luck, Jaime! We have really appreciated the contributions you have made over the six years you have worked at the Senior Center.

The North Central Area Agency on Aging (NCAAA) will be holding a Focus Group at the Enfield Senior Center on Monday, April 3 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. NCAAA is a private non-profit agency that funds programs and services for seniors. They are interested in hearing from you about what you see as gaps in services and ideas to make your life easier. Come share your opinion with key decision-makers. Find out how your opinion influences regional plans for older adult services. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard.

Michael Ciriello, the Director of Development Services for the Town of Enfield will discuss how small changes can make it easier for older adults to remain in the community for as long as possible. Structuring community design to meet the needs of seniors creates benefits for the entire community. Join us for Aging in Place in Enfield on Wednesday, April 19 at 1 p.m. for this interesting discussion.

On Tuesday, April 11 from 1 to 3 p.m., Enfield Culture & Arts is sponsoring an activity for grandparents and grandchildren. Paint a terra cotta pot in the class and take home seeds and soil. Once the pot is dry, you can plant the seeds together. Enfield Culture & Arts will provide everything you need. Register in the Senior Center office. Space is limited.

Featuring the look and sounds of the 1960s, Union Jack takes you back to the days of the Rolling Stones, Kinks, Hollies, and of course, the Beatles. Union Jack is a five-piece band from Western Massachusetts. They will journey through the British Invasion from the early days of Beatlemania to the end of the decade. They also have an American Artist segment where they feature artists like the Monkees, Credence Clearwater Revival, Grass Roots, Rascals, Neil Diamond and more. Tickets are $7 per person for the concert and includes dessert and coffee. Remember the 60s with each song on Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m.

Our Gluten Free Support Group is sponsoring a free presentation by Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Jonathan Goodman on Wednesday, April 19 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. RSVP to ShopRite Dietician Michelle Mattia, the group facilitator at michelle.mattia@wakefern.com or 860-253-4173. Enfield Single Seniors would like to invite singles 55+ to join us for their Spring Pot Luck dinner at 6 p.m. on April 19 at the Enfield Senior Center.   Bring a dish, salad, entrée, or dessert to share. Bring your own dinnerware and come to socialize and make new friends.  Their motto is "Loneliness is not a friend.” Join the group and make a new friend.
