News Release for the Week of June 5, 2017
Blue Skies Big Band has an impressive and expansive music library of jazz and swing artists of past and present. On Thursday, June 22 at 6 p.m. this 19-piece band will entertain with fantastic sounds of notables like Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, and Benny Goodman and more contemporary artist like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin, right up to today’s favorites, Harry Connick Jr, and Michael Buble. Tickets are on sale for $7 per person for the Blue Skies Big Band Benefit Concert. Proceeds will benefit Enfield Foundation for Excellence in Education and the Enfield Senior Center.
Suffield by the River is sponsoring an interactive presentation called Spice Up Your Rice on Wednesday, June 21 at 1 p.m. Chef Carlos is offering a free cooking demonstration to teach you how to spice up your dinners with a new side dish. Taste the dish, grab a recipe card and enter a raffle for a dinner. There is no charge, but registration is required.
The Enfield Police Senior Picnic is on Wednesday, June 14 at noon. This annual event, sponsored by the Enfield Police Union and Police Benevolent Association, is held at Enfield Rotary Park on the Senior Center Grounds. This year, the EPD is trying something different. They are showing their appreciation to all Enfield older adult residents who have supported them. Free tickets can be picked up at the Police Station with proof of residency. Entertainment will be provided by the Elderly Brothers. Bring a chair and enjoy the day.
Registration for July and August classes begins on Tuesday, June 13 at 8:30 a.m. for Enfield residents. Nonresidents may register for classes on Tuesday, June 20 at 8:30 a.m.
Stop in for coffee and toast in the morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m. You have your choice of an English muffin, white or wheat bread with butter, jelly, peanut butter or Nutella. There are some nice people to talk to also!

The Alzheimer’s Association holds office hours at the Enfield Senior Center monthly. If you would like to know about resources or talk about any concerns, make an appointment for Thursday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome as time allows.
