News Release for the Week of June 26, 2017

Airborne Jazz plays cool jazz, island music, swing, bebop, and Latin jazz. The music takes you back to another era in time but also keeps you right in the groove. It will have you smiling, singing, swaying, or just closing your eyes enjoying the afternoon. Airborne Jazz will be entertaining for our Accreditation Celebration on Monday, June 26 at 3 p.m. We are also celebrating our volunteers. Everyone is welcome. Bring a chair if the weather is nice and enjoy this afternoon celebration. If the weather is inclement, we will move inside.

Are you new to the Enfield Senior Center? Join us on Monday, July 10 for Welcome to ESC. Meet in the Library and then take a tour of the facility. Learn about all of the classes, services, and activities. Have all of your questions answered. No need to register. Just stop in.

The Goldtones Summer Show on Sunday, July 16, at 2 p.m., features our own Enfield Senior Center choral group under the direction of Cindy Palmer. They put together a delightful, fun-filled musical show. Tickets are on sale for $5 per person. Keep in mind that the Goldtones practice on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and are always looking for new members.

Find out about Essential Oils on Wednesday, June 28 at 1 p.m. Sandi Feld of Young Essential Oils will explain how to use them and how to know you are selecting the right kind.

Learn how to manage primary risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity and poor diet to lower your individual risk for stroke with Erin Ballou, MA. Stroke Prevention and Education Program will be held on Wednesday, July 5 at 1 p.m.

The Enfield Senior Center hosts TED Talks and discussion groups on the first and third Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m. In July the topics are How Computers are Learning to Be Creative on July 6 and The Wonderful and Terrifying Implications of Computers That Can Learn on July 20. Exercise your brain by joining this class in the Technology Room. There is no fee or registration for the TED Talks discussion.

Learn How to Minimize Stock Market Risk and Eliminate the Cost of Nursing Home Risk at this seminar on Wednesday, July 12, 1 p.m. presentation. Bill McCloskey of Stateline Senior Services will address the two biggest financial concerns of older adults.

Sail Away Argia, Mystic, CT, July 20, 2017. Cost: $77 per person. 

Saratoga Racetrack, August 17, 2017. Cost: $113 per person.

Bennington, VT, October 5, 2017. Trip sign-up date is July 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. Cost: $84 per person.

National 911 Memorial Museum, November 5, 2017. Trip sign-up date is August 25, 2017 at 10 a.m.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular, November 30, 2017. Cost: $165 per person.  Trip sign up date is June 30, 2017 at 10 a.m.

3-Day Vermont, September 11-13, 2017. Cost $529 pp/double.

Caribbean Cruise, January 28 – February 9, 2018. Cost $1649 pp/double.

Spain’s Classics, April 19 – 29, 2018. Cost $3,899 pp/double. Trip Presentation date is September 7, 2017 at 2 p.m.

Mediterranean Cruise, September 22 – October 5, 2018.  Cost $2999 pp/double.
