News Release for the Week of September 4, 2017

Experience Spain and all of its culture and history in 11 wonderful days scheduled for April 19-29, 2018.  Please join us for the trip presentation on September 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Trip highlights include Madrid, Royal Palace, Toledo, Cordoba, Seville Flamenco Show, Granada, The Alhambra, Valencia Paella Experience and Barcelona. Step back in time in Toledo, the former capital of the Spanish Empire.  Explore Madrid’s monumental 18th century Royal Palace, the official residence of the royal family, with an expert-led tour.  In Seville you will enjoy a tour of the quaint old Santa Cruz Quarter and Maria Luisa Park, one of the loveliest in all of Europe and that evening you will experience an authentic Flamenco Show.  In Valencia savor a “paella experience” including a boat ride on the canals surrounding rice field plantations. Travel to Barcelona one of Europe’s most beautiful and exciting cities. Cost: $3,899 per person/double occupancy includes 14 meals.

Informational Medicare Workshop Tuesday, September 5 at 10 am.  This is an educational event regarding Medicare presented by Kate McCloskey of Stateline Senior Services.  During this presentation, we will discuss the differences between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans. We will also go over Part D, and the different levels of prescription drug coverage, including the donut hole.  Other topics include Medicare Savings Program and protecting yourself from larger co-pays.  Please call or stop by the front desk to register.

One in three Americans have high blood pressure. This increases the risk for both heart attack and stroke.  Learn what steps you can take to control your blood pressure and lower your risk, at the Hypertension seminar on Wednesday, September 6 at 1 pm presented by Johnson Memorial Hospital.  Please register at the front desk.

The 14th Annual Firefighter Picnic is scheduled for September 13 at noon.  Bring along a folding chair and enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs made by our fabulous firefighters.  Rock Solid Alibi will provide a great background for a wonderful day with music from the gazebo.  Many thanks to the firefighters for doing this annually in honor of our older adults.  Free tickets are available at the Senior Center front desk.

Our concerts are extremely popular and tickets sell out fast! Our September 15 concert is already sold out so don’t miss your chance to see Beatles For Sale on Friday, October 20 at 6 pm.  An award winning, New England based Beatles tribute band that is committed to recreating the sounds of the Beatles live in concert.  Tickets are $7 per person with coffee and dessert served at the break.
