News Release for the Week of September 25, 2017

 

 

From the Suggestion Box - You asked, We answered!  Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas, comments & suggestions. Each week, the notes you leave in the Suggestion Box are compiled, grouped into categories and addressed by the Senior Center Staff. We are sharing some questions and answers on our website www.enfield-ct.gov/seniors, click on the “From the Suggestion Box – You Asked, We Answered” link where you will find responses to your suggestions.

 

Congratulations to the Sassy Sewer Group!  The quilt that was sewn for our November Quilt Raffle was entered into the Four Town Fair exhibit and won First Place.  Stop by the Craft Fair on Saturday, November 4 and take a chance on this beautiful winner!

 

The Enfield Senior Repair Program is scheduled to end October 31 for the season. We ask that seniors who need air conditioners removed and/or gutter cleaning performed or other tasks we can help with, submit their requests by calling 860-253-6395 as soon as possible so we may get to all who need our service.

 

The Winter Wonderettes are returning to the Stageloft Theatre in Sturbridge, MA featuring great 60’s versions of holiday classics.  Trip sign up is September 29 at 10 am in the senior center dining room.  The trip date is December 9 and the cost is $92 per person which includes lunch at the Salem Cross Inn.

 

There is partial information published in the November Front & Center for the Craft Fair time printed as 1 pm.  Please note the Senior Center Craft Fair will take place on Saturday, November 4 from 8 am to 1 pm.  

 

Physical Activity for Seniors will be presented by St. Francis Care on Wednesday, September 27 at 1 pm.  If you are interested in getting more activity but don’t know where to begin, join us for this interactive lecture.  Register at the senior center front desk.

 

Join Rafael Rodríguez Cruz, an attorney with Greater Hartford Legal Aide, for a new hour long workshop at the Enfield Senior Center on Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 5 to 6 pm. Mr. Cruz will present on health and financial matters of special interest to seniors including Health Care Directives and Powers of Attorney. Mr. Cruz will also be available immediately after the workshop to answer any specific questions you may have. This workshop is offered free of charge and is open to Enfield residents aged 50 and older. Register at the senior center front desk or by calling 860-763-7425.

 

Mediterranean Cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas, September 22 – October 5, 2018, 14 days/12 nights.  Cost is $2999 per person which includes transportation to and from the airport, roundtrip flights to Barcelona visits to Nice, France, Florence, Pisa, Rome, Amalfi Coast, an overnight onboard in Venice, Bologna, Italy and Kotor, Montenegro.  Come to our trip presentation on October 17 at 2 pm for all the details on this fabulous trip!

 

Enjoy an afternoon of seldom played original solo piano arrangements that Gershwin himself made.  Included will be a little history, more humor and many anecdotes that make the man who made the music come alive.  Paul Bisaccia performs George Gershwin – Rhapsody in Blue on Sunday, October 15 at 2 pm.  Tickets are $7 per person and the event is sponsored by the Enfield Cultural Arts Commission.

Day Trips

Day trips are available for sale on or after the trip sign-up date. 

·         Thomaston Opera House – It’s A Wonderful Life, December 3, 2017.  Cost $91 per person includes lunch at the Black Rock Tavern. 

·         Stageloft Theatre – Winter Wonderettes, December 9, 2017.  Cost $92 per person includes lunch at the Salem Cross Inn.  Trip sign up date is September 29 at 10 am.

 

Multi-Day Adventures

Reservations are being accepted for multi-day adventures.

·         Atlantic City, November 13-15, 2017. Cost $239 pp/double includes slot and meal credits

·         Spain’s Classics, April 19 – 29, 2018. Cost $3,899 pp/double.

·         Mediterranean Cruise, September 22 – October 5, 2018.  Cost $2999 pp/double.  Trip presentation date is October 17 at 2 pm.
