How Things Work in Our World Explained in Uncomplicated English is a new seminar program being offered on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. The next seminar will be held on October 24 at 10:30 am. The topics of discussion will be jet aircraft and automobile engines, electric automobiles and hydrogen fuels cells. No registration is required, just drop in and join in on the discussion.
Reservations are currently be accepted for ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ at the Thomaston Opera House on December 3. This show is not an opera performance it’s a play about a well-known story that draws on both the spiritual side of the season and the American Dream, hard work and honesty will be rewarded, and by treating others with kindness, that goodwill will come back to you. A delicious pre-show lunch at the Black Rock Tavern is included. Cost is $91 per person.
This year’s Holiday Craft Fair and Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will take place on November 4 from 8 am to 1 pm. Bring friends and family and discover affordable and unique handmade gift items such as scarves, hats, mittens, afghans, home décor, ornaments and more. Take a chance at the raffle for a one-of-a-kind quilt or numerous unique gift baskets. Stop at the baked goods table and purchase a fresh homemade goodie. Come early and enjoy the Lions Club all you can eat pancake breakfast. Hope to see you there!
Join us on October 25 at 10 am for the Anthem Medicare Workshop presented by Kate McCloskey of Stateline Senior Services. During this presentation Kate will discuss Anthem Medicare Advantage plans for 2018 and the differences between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans. Financial Elder Abuse presented by United Bank and the Center for Elder Abuse will be held on October 25 at 1 pm. We will explore who is at risk, what are the signs, and raise our collective awareness and comfort level with who to call and how to ‘help your neighbor’ who may be suffering from abuse, neglect or financial fraud. Ballroom Dance with Richie Mitnick is on Friday, October 27 at 2 p.m. Dance away the afternoon and have a snack at the break for $3 at the door.
