News Release for the Week of October 30, 2017

With the colder weather approaching it is good time to remind everyone of our cancellation policy.  All classes and events are canceled when the Enfield Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather.  If there is a weather delay, however, our schedule goes on as usual. Information about closings can be found on WFSB.

Grief and the Holidays presented by St. Francis Care on November 1 at 1 pm.  Holidays can be stressful even in the best of times.  If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, you may be feeling added stress at the effort needed to plan or participate in holiday events.  Come and talk together, about memories, coping with your loss, and finding a balance that works.  Please register at the front desk.

This year’s Holiday Craft Fair and Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will take place on November 4 from 8 am to 1 pm.  Bring friends and family and discover affordable and unique handmade gift items such as scarves, hats, mittens, afghans, home décor, ornaments and more.  Take a chance at the raffle for a one-of-a-kind quilt or many beautiful gift baskets.  Stop at the baked goods table and purchase a fresh homemade goodie.  Come early and enjoy the Lions Club all you can eat pancake breakfast.  Hope to see you there!

They Called Her Reckless is a true story about war, love and one extraordinary horse.  Join us and author Janet Barrett to celebrate the story of an unusual war veteran on November 7 at 11 am.  When the Fifth Regiment’s Recoilless Rifle Platoon acquired a small Korean pony to haul ammunition to the front lines, what they got was a real-life warhorse, the courageous and indomitable Reckless, who stood with her Marines for two years during the Korean War, saving many lives, raising spirits, and winning the love and respect of all who knew her.  Please register at the front desk.

Join Leila Bruno from the Saint Francis Diabetes Care Center for The ABC’s of Diabetes, a discussion of current diabetes and nutrition management guidelines.  Learn how to better understand your home blood glucose testing results and improve your glucose control.  This seminar will be held on November 8 at 1 pm.  Please register at the front desk.
