News Release for the Week of December
4, 2017
We want to count you because you count! Our scan card system counts how many people
we serve at the Enfield Senior Center. In order to monitor the success of our
programs,
it is important to know how many people we serve. The easiest way to do that is
if everyone has a scan card and simply swipes their card when they come in. The scan system also tracks volunteer hours, Silver Sneakers fitness hours and retains emergency contact information. There is no charge for a scan card.
Please stop by the front desk and apply for one the next time you visit
or download a form from our website www.enfield-ct.gov/senior.
Need
any last minute inexpensive gifts for the holidays? Join us on Monday, December
11, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm for a Holiday Earring Class. There will be
packaged earring kits available for purchase to create all types of holiday or fashionable
earrings. The instructor will provide all the kits, the tools and
assistance to put the earrings together. The cost of the kits run from $3 - $10
per kit. Please register at the front desk.
Just in time for
holiday shopping, join us on December 11 at 1 pm to learn about Shopping on the Internet. The internet is a gigantic virtual mall of
great bargains. We will learn how to
navigate securely. We’ll explore some of
the major internet shopping sites such as Amazon and Ebay. No registration required just stop in.
New to the
Enfield Senior Center, stop by on Tuesdays at 10 am for a senior center tour. Learn
all about the classes, services and activities.
No registration needed, group meets in the library.
Join us on December 7 at 10:30 am for TED Talks How to Live to be 100+.
To find the path to long life and health, Dan Buettner and team study
the world’s “Blue Zones” communities whose elders live with vim and vigor to
record setting age. In his talk, he
shares the 9 common diet and lifestyle habits that keep them spry past age 100.
Just a reminder
of our holiday hours. We will be closed on Christmas Day December
25 and New Year’s Day January 1. We will
close at 4 pm during the week between the holidays from December 26 through
December 29.
Want
to become a volunteer Dial-A-Ride driver
to bring Enfield seniors and physically disabled to their out-of-town
medical appointments? We would greatly appreciate your service. Volunteers use
town-owned vehicles to transport individuals. All you need is a valid
