News Release for the Week of December 18, 2017

 

 

The staff of the Enfield Senior Center wishes you a Happy Holiday season.  We are very thankful for the many volunteers that enable the Senior Center to provide the variety of programs and services that we offer.  Every day, we are proud to serve this wonderful community of older adults.  During this holiday season, we send our wishes for happiness in the coming year. 

 

Take me out to the ballgame!  Only 20 tickets available to see the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Sunday, June 24, 2018.  Trip sign up is Friday, December 22, at 10 am in the dining room.  Trip cost is $142 per person.  For more details trip flyers are available at the senior center or on our website.

 

Free Arts & Crafts programs all skill levels are welcome!  Our Creative Stitches group meets on Wednesdays from 9 am – noon for knitting, crocheting, embroidery and sewing.  Our Heritage Group meets on Mondays from 10 am – noon and creates craft projects throughout the year.  On the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 1 – 3 pm we have our Sassy Sewers working on quilts and other sewing projects.  No registration needed, just drop in and share ideas and show and tell.

 

Senior Medical Patrol (SMP) – Fraud and Abuse will be presented by John G. Dee of Wealth Preservation Group. The SMP program seeks to empower seniors to prevent health care fraud through outreach an education.  Join us for a discussion on how to combat fraud, abuse, errors, and Medicare scams. This seminar will be held on December 20 at 1 pm.  Please register at the front desk.

 

Join us on December 19 at 10:30 am for our seminar “How Things Work in our World, Explained in Uncomplicated English” for a discussion on how to improve dealings with auto repairs and minimize getting cheated.  Also, how to shop more effectively both on-line and in stores.  This includes on-line research, price comparisons, and recommendations by reliable sources.  Lots of money can be saved using simple, easy to use techniques.  No registration is required, just drop in.

 

Landscape Painting Party will be held January 5 at 11 am. Learn how to create a beautiful landscape using acrylic paint.  Blend colors and apply them to canvas while finding out about background, middle ground and foreground.  Class is $5 and all supplies will be provided by OBTA Care.  Please register at the front desk.

 

Want to learn how to play Bridge - here is your opportunity!  Bridge lessons will be offered on Thursdays, January 4 through January 25, from 9:30 – 11 am.  There is no fee or registration required.  Just stop in!

Day Trips

Day trips are available for sale on or after the trip sign-up date. 

·         Westchester Theatre – Chorus Line, March 1, 2018. Cost $111 per person includes pre-show lunch.

·         Grand Oak Villa – Pasta & Shamrocks, March 20, 2018.  Cost $92 per person.  Trip sign up date is January 5, 2018 at 10 am.

·         Newport Playhouse – Exit Laughing, April 10, 2018.  Cost $94 per person.  Trip sign up date is February 2, 2018 at 10 am.

·         The Metropolitan Opera – Romeo & Juliet, May 5, 2018.  Cost $150 per person. Trip sign up date is January 26, 2018 at 10 am.

·         Red Sox Game at Fenway Park, June 24, 2018.  Cost $142 per person.  Trip sign up date is December 22, 2017 at 10 am.  Only 20 seats available for this trip!

·         Colorado’s Historic Trains, August 10 – 18, 2018. Cost $3,299 pp/double.

·         Lancaster, PA Sight & Sound Theatre ‘Jesus’, September 24 -26, 2018. Cost $453 pp/double.

·         Mediterranean Cruise, September 22 – October 5, 2018.  Cost $2999 pp/double.

·         Nashville Music City, October 9 – 16, 2018.  Cost $1,763 pp/double.

·         Iceland, November 29 – December 5, 2018. Cost $3,759 pp/double. 

·         American Queen River Cruise, New Orleans to Memphis, December 2 – 10, 2018.  Cost $2,599 inside cabin pp/double includes Air, shore excursions and more.
