A big thank you to
Mr. John Ferraro for donating a Merlin Electronic Magnifier
to the Enfield Senior Center. The Merlin
lets people with low vision read and write and regain visual independence. Stop in our Computer Lab and give it a try.
Join a Wadsworth Atheneum docent on Wednesday, April 18,
2018 @1:00 pm for the program: Explore Art from the Atheneum, an
interactive discussion of highlights from the Atheneum’s collections.
Participants will learn more about the history of the museum and its diverse
holdings through this hour-long exploration using poster reproductions of
collection objects. Call 860-763-7425 to sign up. This is a free program.
There will be an iPhone Planner class on Tuesday, April
17 at 1pm. This class is for those who want to learn the basic usage of the
iPhone contacts, calendar and reminders. Registered at the
Senior Center Office. R$3 and NR $4.
Tickets
are still available for: A Tribute to the Platters on Friday, April 27
at 6pm. Tony Funches, former Lead Vocalist of the “Original Platters,” he will
be performing the nostalgic classic hits such as "Only
You," "The Great Pretender," "Smoke Gets in Your
Eyes," and many other timeless gems. Spend
a fun night out with us for just $10, including dessert and coffee.
A Jewelry Workshop is being offered on Thursday, April 19 from 1- 5 pm. Spend the afternoon crafting beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
Jewelry always makes a great gift. Instructor
supplies all the tools, and beads are purchased separately. Registered at the
Senior Center Office. R$8 and NR $9.
This
month’s movie is The Darkest Hour. While the German Nazi regime bombarded Britain
and continued its attack on Europe, the British were faced with choosing a new
Prime Minister. Their only hope was British Prime Minister Winston Churchill
(Gary Oldman). Churchill had to decide to focus on British military resistance
or negotiate a peace treaty with Adolf Hitler. Tickets are $2 at the door. Movie
starts at 4 pm on Thursday, April 19.
Registration deadline for May and June fitness classes is
April 20.
