News Release for the Week of May
21, 2018
Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for
everyone who has died serving in the American armed forces. Take a moment
to remember and celebrate our freedom for those who fought for it. We will be
closed on Monday, May 28.
This program will discuss the epidemic of prediabetes and diabetes in the United
States. Do you have prediabetes or are you at risk for it? We will
discuss what prediabetes is and the health risks associated with it.
The good news is that research has shown that relatively simple
lifestyle measures may prevent or delay the progression of prediabetes to
diabetes. We will discuss this research and the methods that have been
shown to helpful. Wednesday, May 23, 1 pm, rescheduled from March 21. Call 860-763-7425
to register. This is a free program.
Coloring
is an activity very beneficial to adults – namely for its de-stressing power.
Coloring generates wellness, quietness and stimulates the brain’s areas related
to motor skills, senses and creativity. Wednesday, May
23, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Please sign up in the Front Office.

The Financial Professional will be available for 15-minute private
appointments to answer personal money questions. Whether you are looking for
safe alternatives for your nest egg or trying to protect your money from
probate, unnecessary taxes and nursing homes, you’ll get your questions on Tuesday, May 22 from 10 am to noon. Call the Senior Center office 860-763-7425 to schedule your
free appointment.
