Town Manager Christopher Bromson announces that the Town of Enfield and the Board of Education have seen a combined energy reduction rate of 22%, and this news couldn’t be better for residents that approved the project in the 2016 referendum.
The Town is on a rate to save 2,848,556 kilowatt Hours per year of electricity equating to $710,231 at current electric utility rates, which exceeds the Honeywell contract guaranteed savings of 2,496,095 kilowatt Hours per year and $651,723.
Gregg Gabinelle, Enfield Public Works Deputy Director, presented an Energy Performance Contract project summary to the Town Council on September 17. “While many improvements have been made and savings are already apparent, the Town will have to closely monitor energy use to ensure that contract guaranteed savings continue to be realized. The Department of Public Works is up for the task, and always takes our responsibility to taxpayers seriously when it comes to saving money,” Gabinelle stated. Please view his presentation below:
Nearly six months have passed since completion of the Town’s Honeywell Energy Performance Contract. The project included installation of high efficiency Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting and lighting controls in most Town buildings, retrofitting roughly 3,700 streetlights to LED, boiler replacements in six Town buildings and a heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system in the Central Library.
Additional savings from natural gas use will continue during the heating season. The numbers will be available for reporting after the heating season next spring. Honeywell will be attending a Town Council Meeting in the spring of 2019 to update residents on the thousands more that was saved over the winter.
