News Release for the Week of November 10, 2014

The Enfield Senior Center has been awarded the 2015 Bronze Pinnacle Award. The Pinnacle Award is a national recognition presented by NuStep, Inc. NuStep is a manufacturer of inclusive exercise equipment. Steve Sarns, NuStep Vice President of Sales and Marketing remarked, “We are proud to recognize the Enfield Senior Center for their exceptional efforts to support innovative forms of successful aging. By offering whole-person wellness programming, Enfield Senior Center is empowering participants to enhance their quality of life and providing them with the tools to remain independent so they can make meaningful contributions to their community.” The Enfield Senior Center will receive a banner and trophy in the near future. It is an honor to be recognized on a national level.

The Enfield Cultural Arts Commission will sponsor a Veterans Tribute on Sunday, November 16 at 2 p.m. featuring renowned pianist Paul Bisaccia at the Enfield Senior Center. Paul Bisaccia will perform Stars and Stripes Forever, in a tribute to those who have served their country. The concert is free and no tickets are required.

The Afternoon Ballroom Dance has been attracting more and more dancers. Join the fun on Friday, November 14 at 2 p.m. The cost is $3 per person and includes a snack at the break.

The monthly movie on Thursday, November 20 is “Jersey Boys.” Enjoy a Chicken Quesadilla and movie for $5 per person. Dinner is served at 5 p.m. Please purchase tickets in advance. If you are coming for the movie only, it is $2 at the door.

The Rotary Club of Enfield is hosting a Pancake Breakfast at the Senior Center on Saturday, November 22 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The Rotary Club raises money for charitable projects in Enfield. Have pancakes for a good cause!

The Goldtones are in concert at the Senior Center on Sunday, November 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door for $5 per person including coffee and dessert. The Goldtones will be appearing at the Log Cabin on Thursday, December 11. Lunch includes Marinated Sirloin with Bordelaise Sauce and Stuffed ½ Lobster. The cost is $52 per person. You may purchase the tickets in the Senior Center office but transportation is on your own.

The Alzheimer’s Association provides office hours for anyone who would like a private meeting to discuss concerns, get referrals, or have a listening ear. Patty O’Brian will be at the Senior Center on November 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call for an appointment or just walk in.

We are approaching cold and flu season. Hand sanitizers are located near the doors and Dining Room.

• Texas Tenors at Foxwoods Casino, December 11, 2014. This trip is sold out!
• Santa & the Goldtones at the Log Cabin Restaurant, December 11, 2014. Cost: $52 pp. Tickets are available at the Senior Center Front Desk.
• It’s a Wonderful Life at the Stageloft Theatre, Salem Cross Inn, December 13, 2014. This trip is sold out!

Multi-Day Adventures
Reservations are being accepted for multi-day adventures.
• Hawaii Cruise, January 22-February 1, 2015. This trip is sold out!
• Springtime Tulip River Cruise, Belgium & the Netherlands, April 10 – 18, 2015. Contact 860-763-7427 for pricing and availability.
• Alaska Inside Passage Cruise, May 6 – 16, 2015. This trip is sold out!
• Sunny Portugal, October 15 – 25, 2015. Cost: $2999 pp/double.
