[ARCHIVED] Captain Fred Hall Promoted To Deputy Chief of the Enfield Police Department

Town Manager Christopher Bromson is pleased to announce that Captain Fred Hall has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Police for the Enfield Police Department, effective March 29, 2019.

Captain Hall replaces Deputy Chief Gary Collins, who has admirably served the Town of Enfield since 1984.  “While Deputy Chief Collins will be missed, we are very fortunate to have someone of Fred’s caliber, experience and insight to fulfill this command position” said Bromson.

When notified of his promotion, Captain Fred Hall said that he was “humbled and honored with the privilege” to continue working alongside “the great men and women of the Enfield Police while serving in this new capacity.”

Captain Fred Hall was sworn in on June 5th, 1988 as a Patrol Officer and was promoted to Detective in 1993.  He was assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force in 1995 and promoted to Sergeant in 1996.  Sergeant Hall supervised the Community Police Division, Street Crimes Unit and the Detective Bureau. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2009 and Captain in 2011, continuing his steady and successful climb to the top ranks of the Police Department.  Prior to joining the Enfield Police, Captain Hall served his country while enlisted in the United States Army.

Captain Hall has accumulated several awards, including two Distinguished Service Medals and two State Police Unit Citations.  He has been recognized by the Enfield Police Department numerous times for excellence, earning a Departmental Citation and numerous Letters of Commendation.

Revered by fellow officers, residents, and the Town of Enfield with whom he works, Chief Alaric Fox is personally thrilled about the promotion of his new second-in-command.  “We as a community are quite fortunate by the selection of Captain Hall to serve as Enfield’s next Deputy Chief of Police. Captain Hall has distinguished himself throughout his thirty-one year Enfield Police Department career, and he is extremely well known and well respected in law enforcement circles.  I look forward to his continued contributions to the Enfield Police Department.”

Captain Hall has served in the capacity of Instructor for the Department and the Academy for Arrest and Control, Impact Weapons, Active Aggressor Response and Critical Incident Management.  He has partnered with several civic organizations; assisted in the structuring of the Enfield Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), has been a longtime member of the Enfield Together Coalition (ETC), the Suicide Prevention Council and helped start the Rape, Aggression and Defense (RAD) program in town.

Captain Hall is a life-long resident of Enfield.  He currently resides here with his wife, State Representative Carol Hall, and their family.
